Funding Awards

The Gordon Nixon Leadership Award was established by the Annual Fund in recognition of Gordon Nixon (OAC '37) and his outstanding contributions in support of student life, alumni activities, and fundraising at the University of Guelph. Annual grant funding of up to $10,000 is available to one or more campus-based student organizations for support of significant new initiatives that promote student involvement, service and leadership. Applications are posted on Gryphlife in January each year and due in mid-February. Projects must be taking place the following year from May 1- April 30.

Award Criteria

Projects that exhibit the following characteristics will be considered for funding:

  • Significant new initiatives promoting student involvement, service and leadership Relevance to the University's learning objectives
  • Broad impact beyond the membership of a particular student organization
  • Fostering new or expanded opportunities for service on campus or in the local community
  • Evidence of support from other source
