About Student Life

At Student Life students are at the heart of all that we do. We affirm the dignity and worth of every individual, regardless of ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression and identity. Together, we work to create positive spaces where all are afforded equal opportunity to thrive.

We recognize that every student's journey is unique and want to ensure that you have many opportunities to stretch and grow throughout your time here. To achieve this, we offer a diverse range of programs and services that are clustered as follows: Information (the knowledge to guide you); Guidance (help along the way); Community (supporting you in being a part of something bigger); and Experiences (engaging you in opening your world).

Our highly skilled team partners with faculty, staff, students, community partners, and alumni to design and deliver intentional educational programs, resources and services that help you to achieve your goals, thrive in your academic pursuits, develop lasting friendships, and expand your knowledge, skills, and abilities. We are proud of our standing as leaders in the Student Affairs and Services field, and of the many awards our staff and programs have received. However, our greatest source of pride is the students and alumni who connect with us years after graduation to tell us how important their experience at Guelph was, and the role that we played in helping them to pursue their passions and live lives of purpose.

In September, 2017 the Student Life team is launching the "Be Bold." campaign. Our goal is to encourage you as students to:

  • stand up against indifference,
  • stretch the boundaries of your thinking,
  • learn outside the classroom,
  • chart new paths,
  • be an active agent of change,
  • be courageous,
  • be an ally,
  • be whole-hearted,
  • know and live by your values, and
  • challenge all forms of oppression, racism, bigotry, evil and ignorance.

As educators we recognize that we hold a special obligation to convey and uphold community values, and to cultivate supportive spaces for learning, building community, exploring one's intersecting identities and lived experiences, and for engaging in meaningful dialogue with others. In encouraging you to "Be Bold." we are committed to doing so ourselves, and to walking alongside you on your unique journey of learning, growth, and self-discovery.
