What a Day!
I wanted to take a moment to say a tremendous thank you to everyone who was so incredibly patient today. Those who were moving into South Residence in particular often had to wait a long time. This is my fifteenth Move-in Day at the University of Guelph and I've never seen weather quite like today - cold, windy and wet. We are incredibly lucky to have more than 600 volunteers who persevered. Those who were standing out directing traffic were real troupers! You were also amazing! Even after a long wait in line, you were still gracious, friendly and happy. I'm so glad our our new students have parents and family members who have taught such amazing perspective.
I've just come back from the Athletics Centre where Play Fair is putting on quite a show. They're a high-energy, fun group of entertainers who are facilitating a group of more than 1,500 students in ice-breakers and get-to-know you activities. Dances, movie nights and other activities will be starting momentarily.
There's been some hiccups today, but all in all, we're pretty lucky to have such an amazing community.
