START for First Timers AUG 17th, 2012

The Centre for New Students will be hosting START for First Timers, Friday, August 17th, on campus! This event is for students and parents who are going through the univeristy transition for the first time (where the student is the first in the family to go to university).

Students whose parents didn't attend university often find that they have to explain campus life to their families at the same time that they're trying to figure it out for themselves. This one day workshop will give you the chance to preview university life together with your family, and will provide you with information and support specific to your needs that will help ensure your success.

This unique opportunity will give you a chance to meet other First Generation students and your family will have a chance to meet other similar families. We'll also have staff, faculty and student leaders on hand to talk about the U of G experience. You'll learn about academic expectations, campus culture, the student experience and how to get the most out of your time at university.

Don't miss this valuable experience to kick-off your time at Guelph with all kinds of support and useful insight.
