Central Student Association Election Results
Wed, 2011-03-23 15:32 — Alexandra MayhewHello everyone!I know there’ve been a few blog posts regarding the Central Student Association Election so I thought it would be nice to post the results so that you can stay in the loop, especially if you encouraged your students to vote. The five Central Student Association positions are listed below as well as the person who has been elected into the position.
Academic and University Affairs Commissioner: Jessica Carter
Communications and Corporate Affairs Commissioner: Lauren Ramsay
External Affairs Commissioner: Demetria Jackson
Human Resources and Operations Commissioner: Derek Alton
Local Affairs Commissioner: Josh Ofori-Darko
Beyond simply informing you of the election results, I thought this blog was important to inform you of potential contacts for your students is they have any issues that should be brought to the Central Student Association’s attention. The Central Student Association loves feedback and if your student is interested in speaking with somebody regarding specific concerns, now you have the names readily available.
The World University Service of Canada (WUSC) referendum question asking if student would support an increase in the WUSC student fee from $1.15 to $1.86 per semester indexed to the cost of living was passed. This means that your student will be paying an additional $0.71 in their student fees. The Interhall Council Referendum asking if a $58.00 fee should be charged only to new semester-one students and increase annually at the rate of inflation was also passed. This won’t impact present students, however it will mean that for incoming students there will be an additional $58.00 added to their student fees to help offset the cost of their Orientation Week.
This is just a brief summary, if you’re interested in finding out more about the election I would suggest checking out this news article posted by The Cannon. http://thecannon.ca/news/story/2011_csa_elections_the_results_are_in.
